In the past few years as social media platforms like instagram and youtube have risen the the top and stolen countless hours of our lives, traditional blogs have fallen by the wayside. But blogs were the beginning! I remember spending countless hours in my younger years scrolling through every post on my favorite blogs, soaking up all the fashion and beauty information I could find. Maybe it's because I'm especially prone to nostalgia, but I feel that as we've moved away from blogs to faster, more flashy content we've lost some of the magic along the way.
There is just something special about a blog that you can't get from an instagram photo, a series of stories, or youtube video. The combo of photos and text is very reminiscent of a magazine, but more portable, more specific and more relatable. It feels less manufactured and more personal. I love that you can read at your own pace and easily refer back to a post you really enjoyed. I love the curation of photos to match the writing perfectly. I just love the creativity of a blog, and I can appreciate the time it takes to put together an excellent presentation.
So, I decided to pay homage to the blogs I loved growing up and the blogs I love now and start one of my own. Maybe nobody will read it, and that's fine. At least I'll have a place to voice my thoughts, talk about things I love and things I don't, and pour some of my creative energy. Writing was my first creative love, and I think it's fitting I dedicate a little more time to practicing the craft by mixing it with so many other things I enjoy.
All that to say, here's my blog. I hope you'll come by again.
